**Operational carbon** of **operationele koolstofuitstoot** in de bouw verwijst naar de uitstoot van [broeikasgassen](https://www.pixii.be/bouwtermen/broeikasgas-greenhouse-gas-ghg/) die geassocieerd worden met alle energie (bv. gas, hout, stookolie of elektriciteit) die gedurende haar levensloop wordt verbruikt om een gebouw of infrastructuur te gebruiken (verwarming, koeling, verlichting, enz.)
